The HOTWEEK project is a place for discovery and growth in the artistic fields of contemporary jewellery, object making, metalwork and related media.

The HOTWEEK concept is initiated and developed by Heidi Sand; Professor and Head of the Metalwork and Jewellery department of the Oslo National Academy of the Arts in the period 2007 – 2012. It is now run by the students and teachers at the Art Academy. The aim of the project  is to involve people from outside of the Academy in the activities of the department.

Every year a new hands on theme is set for HOTWEEK.  The theme is, of course, only a starting point for the production of work and can be approached conceptually, aesthetically or in any  desired way. We encourage the participants to use any kind of materials and techniques, and to discuss their opinions with our  invited teachers. Our guest teachers are selected amongst the very best in the field and are  well established artists.

HOTWEEK is held at the grand campus of the Oslo National Art Academy. Well equipped workshops with state-of-the-art machinery and expert technicians provide a structure that supports all kinds of creative activities.

The final day of the workshop the Academy invites all to join in on the artist presentations by HOTWEEK´s guest teachers,  before we proudly show the works executed during HOTWEEK in an  exhibition.
